Collecting antique Chinese porcelain: patterns, provenance and pitfalls

Following on from our very successful first look at the theme of
Chinese porcelain in 2011, this illustrated lecture will continue the
exploration into the fascinating world of antique Chinese porcelain,
explaining the background to recent market trends, and presenting
examples of antique Chinese ware. As an affluent Chinese now seek to
buy back the porcelain treasures which were exported in thousands from
China to the West from the eighteenth-century onwards, prices have
rocketed in international auction houses.
A special Road Show event will follow and the public can bring along
own pieces of Chinese porcelain to be assessed for authenticity,
historical interest, and opinion on possible current market value.
