Pouldrew House, County Waterford and other important clients

Sheppard’s are pleased to present 2,040 lots that include Irish, English, Chinese, Japanese and Tibetan art from the collection of the late Dr. Jan Mohamed and other important clients. The sale will be conducted over the course of four days from the 9-12 May.

Born in Singapore, the late Dr. Mohamed was a medical doctor with a very successful practice in the southeast of Ireland. At Pouldrew House he assiduously assembled his important collection of Asian art works that includes early jade artefacts, an extensive snuff bottle collection and noteworthy Chinese and Japanese furniture.

Asian art specialist Michael Sheppard in reviewing the collection noted “this is the most diverse and exciting collection to come to the Irish market in decades”.

Consignments from other important clients include exceptional pieces by noted furniture designer Joseph Walsh (1979 –     ), collectible wines, diamond rings, watches by Patek Philipe, Cartier, Rolex, and an extremely rare Great Seal of Ireland attached to Royal letters patent of King Charles II dated, 30 May 1667, related to grants in County Waterford.
